Mdf Madness

Good morning friends, followers and visitors! Oh I have had some relaxing therapy with my new love of mdf crafting! Dreamees have recently started selling mdf shapes that can be painted, decorated and embellished. I fell in love with the idea of creating something that is beautiful for display and can be personalised. So I bought THREE mdf kits from Dreamees via Create and craft.

Let me first start by saying how good value for money they are. The quality is really good. The kits came with stamp sets too - again added to the value for money. In one kit you receive an alphabet set; when I opened the package I was amazed at the size they were a lot bigger than expected and they stamp perfectly. (Dreamees stamps always do!) furthermore in another kit you get a good variety of shapes to decorate. I found this perfect as this is my first time crafting with mdf. It has allowed me to try something new without worrying about my purse! Yippee!

Now let me show you my first project done with the kits.

This is a hanging tag that I did for my daughter, backed with pattered paper and distressed around the edges using distress inks. I used dreamees flower stamps and embellished with a dazzler. I personalised using a zig writing pen.

My second mdf project here is a hexagonal frame backed with American crafts paper. the frame itself has been backed with bazzill bling card-stock and distressed with ink. I have embellished using dreamees flower stamps onto vellum that has been coloured with pro markers. I added some flat back pearls to finish. The text has been made using the alphabet stamp set and inked up with memento. I have applied a varnish using mod podge gloss.

Crafty Challenge - Emma's hints, Tips and crafty Inspiration

Good evening and a very late happy new year! I have one crafty make to share with you all that I have made specially for a crafty challenge in my favourite craft group Emma's hints tips and crafty inspiration for members only. The theme is anything goes so I made a 3D paper hand bag! I made it out of left over card board packaging. It was already folded and I saw it as a bag template. I have used a mixture of Dreamees stamps, tattered lace butterfly, lattice bow embossing, Marianne swirls and a tonic sentiment. This project took 3 evenings to complete. It now hangs happily on my wall as a display piece :) visit the Group blog  and join us thanks for popping by!

Feeling Festive

Feeling festive

Good afternoon friends, followers and visitors. I have been away from blogging for a month. I sadly have had two bereavements in my family and I wasn’t feeling very creative I needed to shut my self down. Now I am slowly getting back into things and I have something CHRISTMASY to show you! Yes I realize we are still chugging through November but I really wanted to make this…

This gorgeous wreath! It’s taken me 2 evenings and was finished earlier today. I have used Stamps by Chloe Holly flowers large and small. These were stamped on to pearlised paper and embossed with Chloe’s Christmas embossing powder. Then they were painstakingly cut out one by one shaped moulded and glued in two layers to form the flowers. I added dazzler gems on top for the centres. The leaves were die cut using Tattered lace winter foliage (which is now a discontinued die) in two shades of green card. The wreath itself has been cut out from foam board (My boyfriend gladly whizzed round the circle with a craft knife for me) and painted in green. All components were then layed out accordingly and adhered to with 3D glue gel.

A fish...

A Fish…

Good morning friends, followers and visitors. I’ve been a bit down the past couple of days… I won’t go into detail on here as it’s a rather private matter. To lift my spirits again I went off upstairs into my
tidyex-craftroom and I dipped into my felt stash in afternoon yesterday pondering as I wanted to use my beautiful mother of pearl shell buttons… I then thought oh! I haven’t made a fish yet as I was looking through my big file of templates.

I love to work with beads too so I mixed together some pink, silver, blue and purple seed beads. Then I went off downstairs (Ex-Craftroom is going to be my daughter’s bedroom and I have a wall desk downstairs now) I began to draw round my template onto my 100% pure wool felt fabric with a white tailors pencil. After I did all that I cut them out and proceeded to sew. The buttons and beads were added along the front with the fish face as I wanted the fish to be stuffed with some filling to pad it out and give it more shape. I then added the eye with green felt (80% wool felt marbled) and sewed on some black seed beads for a different look for a pupil. I sewed everything up with metallic thread for added texture and shine. I may make another one soon!
Thank you for visiting! Happy crafting :)

Crafty catch up!

Crafty catch up!

Hello friends, followers and visitors…
I apologize for the lack of blogging it’s been a while. lots of stuff going on here at home. Anyway This post is a quick catch up of the crafty makes I did a while ago.

Here we have TWO vintage wine bottles created from The Dreamees “Something to treasure” CD, the purple one (obviously) was gifted to my mum she loved it! The one on the right is sat on my side table :) They have both been embellished with Dreamees flower stamps. I added creative expressions Pearlized PVA glue to make the pearls and finished with a bow and other gems.

Next up a few cards…

This card was created using my favourite artist Hannah Lynn stamps. I have incorporated a cheery Lynn frame die, Tattered lace Chantilly bow, a tattered lace sentiment, Marianne die swirls and the dreamees flower stamp.

Here’s a close up… (My colouring has slightly improved since)

Here we have a NEW stamp from the Sheena Douglass range “A little bit magical – maid of the sea”
For this square card I created a layered wavy ocean effect by ripping Sheena’s stamping card and colouring with pro markers. the last layer was stamped with the mermaid and the ripped edges done afterwards. She was coloured in pro-markers as was the beach and sentiment. I like how this card turned out :)

Ooooh THIS CARD! This is a poppy art stencil I bought at  the craft show near the Trafford centre (Event-city) I used distress inks for her and the background. I Spritzed over and blotted for a bleached bubble effect and added 3d clear lacquer. Here I have also used Sheena Douglass sea shell stamps these were embossed and gilded with gilding wax.

There we go! I have more stuff to show you of course but it will have to wait a while…
Happy Crafting

Sophia’s Carousel

Sophia’s Carousel

Friends, Followers and Visitors
Once upon a time…
Three days ago…
My Dreamees “Something to treasure” CD arrived through the door. I was SO excited! I had wanted this CD as soon as I saw the sample photo’s via Facebook (search – Dreamees) it was perfect for my little girl.
Little did I know that it would take me so long to complete! After several mistakes (it’s my first 3D Paper project), a tantrum and burning my finger tips with hot glue my hard work paid off with the addition of Moral support from my crafty group Hi guys! :D
Here is the carousel in it’s glory…

  A couple of close ups.
All the papers were printed from the Dreamees CD it’s jam packed full with patterned papers, flowers, accessories… There are other projects on there too and yes I will attempt more! For someone like me who’s starting a 3d paper project for the first time DON’T go A4. Work smaller I worked on 13x18cm it will explain on the CD on re sizing :)

I know it’s a long time till Sophia can understand what this is (5 month old) I hope that when she understands what it is she will appreciate it. I added the larger tickets  Create, be happy,  fun and enjoy. These are a few things that I want her to have in her life as she grows up :)
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you like Sophia’s carousel
Crafty hugs as always
