About me

I’m Larissa and I currently live in the U.K with my partner, our daughter and our beautiful cat Tia.
Creativity came to me at an early age and I have gradually improved my various skills over the years. This past year my creative flair peaked and I took up hand sewing which led me to the path of felt and felt making. I love working with 100% wool felt as it’s more durable and isn’t easily damaged. It’s soft and comes in a variety of lovely colours. Of course I started working with 30% wool felt but found it was thin, easy to damage and it’s shape warped. Sometimes I have to use this felt when I can’t afford the half metre pieces of pure wool felt. I also like to work with craft cotton fabrics ( I have a huge stash from my job) It’s light weight and easy to sew.
I’m still a beginner on the sewing machine and I can do a basic patchwork blanket. I’m always drawn back to hand sewing just for the hand made feel and the care that goes into making the items. I particularly like the blanket stitch as it’s neat and tidy and contrasting the threads makes an attractive impact on my pieces.
My other hobbies include card-making and painting and photography.
My parents are partly why I find my self being a creative person. My mother makes jewellery, cards and does sewing and My father used to paint pictures.
My passion for card making has re ignited again! This is because it helps me relax and it gives me “me” time! Sometimes us mum’s need it! I love watching create and craft and
buying   learning new things. My favourite craft experts are Sheena Douglass and Chloe Endean. I’m also a fan of the Dreamees girls!
I have learnt very quickly that buying cheap products isn’t always necessarily best thing to do. I can give you examples! Silicone glue. Do not compromise this stuff – you need the one that dries clear. I’ve ruined a few projects now because of the cloudy drying silicone. Guillotine’s/ paper trimmers – yes I did it. I bought a cheap trimmer which resulted in wonky squares… it then eventually broke and got thrown out of the window. I bought a tonic guillotine and it was worth the money!
I’m constantly learning and picking up new techniques and tips as I go on my crafty journey and I look forward to sharing this with you all.
